I pay attention to the small details in and outside the design. What's intriguing to me is understanding the framework of people and how a slight change affects them. I reflect a lot on the "Law of Conservation of Complexity" wherein the complexity can't stay hidden, so who deals with it? Either a user or a designer. It should always be the latter. Having said that, I empathize with users deeply, to understand their mental model, and pain points to give them a better user experience.
